October

So here is my October post. I'll start out with my crazy little incident that I had on my way to work on October 2nd. It might be long, so I apologize, but I want to write it all down so I don't forget it.
PART 1
I was on my way to work to Rexburg as usual. I got just past Rigby and was kind of blocked in front by a Spud Truck in the right lane and a big Yukon in the left lane. I went into the left lane behind the Yukon to hopefully pass the semi, (the Yukon was going about 65 mph) We were slowly passing the spud truck when suddenly I see a green Subaru Outback in my rearview mirror come up behind me really fast. I could tell that the girl that was driving was impatient and wanted to hurry and get around us. Well, the Yukon finally got past the spud truck and switched over into the right lane. I proceeded to speed up a little (like 68 or 69) to pass the Yukon so this impatient girl behind me wouldn't tailgate me anymore. Well, as this was happening, I could see the girl squeezed in front of the spud truck into the right lane, (she really had cut him off), and sped up beside me, hoping to shoot the gap I guess. I almost laughed to myself thinking that this girl was going to box herself in and be really mad. There really was no room though. I was actually about to the back bumper of the Yukon passing it in the left lane. Suddenly, the green Subaru rammed into me. It almost seemed intentional. The front of her Subaru ran into the front of my van. She pushed me off to the median, and she lost control, hit the left passenger side of the Yukon, and then bounced off and crossed the median, the other lanes of oncoming traffic and ended up hitting a telephone pole. I was fine. It was just scary. I was able to keep control and stop the van in the median. I had feared that the girl had just killed herself. I had been talking to Kyle on the phone right before I had reached Rigby, but the signal had cut off and he was actually in the process of calling me back when all of this occurred. I answered the phone screaming, (I was a little bit in shock) and saying that the "stupid girl had just killed herself!" over and over. I probably would have waited to talk to him until a few more minutes had passed so I could calm down a bit, but it was pretty scary just to see her car fly like that, and me thinking that I had taken part in someone's death. I could see that some other cars had stopped to go see if she was okay, but they had just opened the door and were staring in there at her and not moving her. She wasn't moving either. I really thought she was dead. It was so scary. The driver of the Yukon got out and ran over to me and said "Can you believe that crazy girl's driving??" We both thought that the girl might have been drunk with the way she had been driving. The Subaru had hit into the door of her Yukon in the same spot where she had her infant daughter in a car seat. Luckily her daughter was okay. The police came and took our statements, and needless to say I didn't go to work that day. On the way home, I came to the realization of how Heavenly Father had protected me. I really wasn't hurt at all. Also, I'm not normally in our van. For some reason, Kyle had left the van with me that morning where normally I drive the car. He had been driving the car to help with spud harvest, and I had been driving the van just for the past week or so, but he was back to his normal work now, and just had decided to let me drive the van up to Rexburg one more time. I kept thinking about how things might have been different if I had been driving the low to the ground lighter car. I had been pushed into the median going 65 mph, but the van sits higher up so I was able to keep control through the rocks and weeds. The car sits so low to the ground, I can hardly even pull into a parking lot without it bottoming out on the curb, so I can't imagine what would have happened if I had been in the car. I feel that Heavenly Father protected me and I came home and hugged my kids a little tighter that day. I still didn't now if that girl ended up being alright, until the next day...
PART 2
Here is an excerpt from the Idaho State Police Blog that I was reading the day after the accident:
On Wednesday, October, 2, 2013, at 10:00am, the Idaho State Police investigated a three vehicle injury crash on US20 near milepost 324, just north of Rigby. Tiffany Tibbitts, 22 from Rigby, ID, was east on US 20 in a Subaru Outback. Shellie George, 37 from Pocatello was east on US 20 in a Dodge Grand Caravan. Kristin Wright, 31 from Idaho Falls, was also east on US 20 in a GMC Yukon. Tibbitts attempted to pass George's vehicle using the right lane of travel. She sped up in an attempt to cut back in front of George's vehicle and clipped the front end of her Caravan. Tibbitts lost control of her vehicle and crashed into Wright's Yukon. Tibbitts vehicle then went across the median, across both westbound lanes on US 20, and off the shoulder of the road colliding with a metal utility pole. George and Wright were able to maintain control of their vehicles. George drove into the median and stopped and Wright was able to stop on the right shoulder of the east bound lanes. Tibbitts was not wearing a seatbelt and was transported to Eastern Idaho Medical Center by ground ambulance. Wright and George were wearing seatbelts. The investigation is ongoing pending toxicology reports of Tibbitts. The Idaho State police was assisted by Jefferson County Sheriff?s Office, Rigby QRU, and Idaho Falls EMS.
First thing I noticed, was they got the drivers mixed up- I wish I drove that nice new Yukon! haha. Anyway, the next thing I noticed was the girl's name. Tiffany Tibbitts. I had heard that name before.... WAIT. I have a step brother named Toby Tibbitts.... and.... I had met his older sister once about 4 years ago, and her name was Tiffany, and she would be about 22! What?!?! I immediately called my Dad. My conversation went something like this, "Dad, did Steph's (my step-mom) daughter get in a car accident yesterday?" "Yes, did you hear about that?" "WHAT! Dad! I was the one she ran into!!" Long story short, she was going to be okay, but she was pretty banged up. She also didn't remember anything that happened, so my Dad and Step-Mom were in the dark about what had happened, so I made sure to tell them the story. They also told me that they had done a toxicology report to see if she was driving impaired. That crazy girl was my step-sister! In the end, her toxicology report came back clean, (which makes me feel nervous that someone would drive like that without being impaired!) she didn't get ticketed for aggressive driving, but she only got tickets for not wearing a seatbelt, and NOT HAVING INSURANCE! Dang girl. She definitely got a break! Luckily, my Dad owns an auto-parts business, which includes a body shop, so with our good insurance we were able to get it taken care of  alright. I just can't believe this crazy story. Out of all the people that she could have hit, it was me, her step-sister. Apparently she had driven crazy because she was trying to get home to Menan, (which if she had been patient, the exit was only a mile away), so she could make it back to work again by 11.
Anyway, after all this, I'm just so grateful that everyone was okay. She got a break without a lot of fines, etc, but hopefully this might give her a wake-up call to change her life around. I know Heavenly Father was watching out for all of us. Here is a little snippet from the news.
It had a video too, and it said that I had been driving too slow in the passing lane, which was almost offensive, haha I don't drive slow! I was just stuck behind the slower Yukon.

ANYWAY, enough of that story! Let's get to some pics!

Here's a pic of Hailee's face-painting from the Fairview Elementary carnival (its supposed to be a butterfly :)

Here's a another cute pic of cutie little Hailee with an umbrella
Here are some beautiful pics of our drive up to Palisades on conference Sunday. It was gorgeous! The fall colors were at their peak!
The lake is really low
We live in such a beautiful place!
A pic of the kids right before Dallin got his shoe stuck in the mud. It was pretty funny. Annoying and messy, but funny. :)
Kyle and Owen
Me 'n the kids
My kids love to play dress up. Here is a pic of Hailee in her outfit she made herself of Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz complete with Toto.
Kyle won some tickets to the Wild Adventure Corn Maze. We took the kids. It was really a lot of fun.
After the mazes, we went on the little train ride to the pumpkin patch.
I went through some of my old stuffed animals that I have stored in a bin, and I came across these little guys. My kids love them!
Bananas in Pajamas!
Hailee is still quite the artist. She just draws and draws all day. This was one of my favorites back in October. A Lady Bug and a purse
Last but not least, we have Halloween! Dallin and Hailee were Mario and Princess Peach. So cute!
It was a beautiful evening. I love the sky in this picture
Our little Owen was a little vampire. Dallin wore this same costume when he was this age. Too cute!
and here's Dallin in the same costume 5 years ago
 I just love my kiddos!
