August 2016

August was a fun month full of activities and getting ready to go back to school, so we wanted to play as much as we could! Here are some pictures of some of the fun things we did.
We went to the splash park again, and had a really fun time! Laila really enjoyed herself in the little fountains.
Owen and Laila on the carousel at Porter Park
We went to go get sand for our sandbox at the sand dune just outside of Idaho Falls. I hadn't been there before, and didn't have any idea how massive that dune is!
We went boating a couple more times this month too.
Here is Dallin kneeboarding again. So proud of that kid!
Tubing
My little fish. I can't keep him out of the water. :)
My cutie girls riding on the boat!
I took the older kids to Rexburg Rapids one evening. We had a lot of fun!
Playing in our little pool in the backyard.
Laila even wanted a chance to play in the water. She had no fear! She was soaking wet within minutes.
We had cousin Elsie stay with us for a couple of days, and we took a trip to the zoo. We had a lot of fun!
Laila and a cute little monkey looking at each other.
We took our little annual trip to Bear Lake. We had a lot of fun and it was such a perfect day!
Nana did a fun treasure hunt for the kids!
Little muddy face
We had such a fun time and hopefully we can go again next year!

Our little Owen turned 4 this month! Wow! He's growing up so fast!
He really loves to dress up as Robin, so we got him a real Robin costume for his Birthday. He's really excited to be able to be Robin for Halloween.

Here are some more random pictures from the month.
Little Laila loves shoes. Here are some pictures of her in Owen's black dress shoes. Out of all the shoes she could wear, she would always choose these black ones.
Pushing her baby
This picture was funny of her pushing her teeny tiny baby in the stroller.
One night, we heard a mouse in Hailee's window well right when it was bedtime, and our cat, Sonic, wasn't around, so we had to catch the mouse ourselves. It was really fun for the kids, and Sonic showed up just in time to come and snatch the mouse out of the bucket so we didn't have to figure out what to do with it.
Proud Mom moment when Owen drew a toilet for Bowser in his rendition of Bowser's castle on the Etch a Sketch. He did a great job!
We pass this Owen road sign in Ammon sometimes and we always point it out to him. We finally stopped and took a picture.
We had a neat experience with our Relief Society to go spend the night at a cabin by Palisades and then go white water rafting. I invited Kathleen to come rafting with us and we had a great time. It was kind of a chilly morning, and we went at 9:00am but we were crazy enough to even go cliff jumping halfway through our trip. We had so much fun!
Here's a pic of Kathleen and I before we started.
There were some photographers by the big rapids and they got our picture. Here is what they posted online.
Dallin and Hailee having fun at the mall while we were school shopping
Cutie pie Laila
Her hair is just long enough now to put into two piggy tails. So cute!
Playing outside on a beautiful evening. It was perfect for some superhero cat chases.
and playing with our neighbor friend, Aiden.
Laila had fun too!
Random moment of drawing mad eyebrows on everyone >:)
The last day of Summer before school started, we went to a fun park to play
Dallin and Hailee started school at the end of the month. 1st and 4th grade. Where does the time go??
Waiting for the bus
Can't forget Sonic! He doesn't let us forget about him every time we come home he jumps on the top of our cars.
Towards the end of August, there was a huge fire in the foothills east of Idaho Falls that traveled all the way to Blacktail and the Ririe Reservoir. It also burned a big portion of my Grandma Harris' dry farm. Luckily it mostly burned grass and didn't burn any structures on her property. After the fire was finally out, and they opened up the reservoir again, Kathleen invited us to go boating with them. It was fun, but the water was pretty stagnant and stinky. One, because it was the end of the year so there was a lot of green moss, but also, I think there was a lot of ash in the water. It was still fun to go surfing one last time of the season. Here are some pictures of the black hills from the fire.
Stinky, cold water!
Surfing fun!
What a fun month we had! We always like to take advantage of our short warm Summers because they come and go too soon!
